How to Fix Printer Error code 22: Out of paper / I/O Config Error / Par I/O Error / MIO Error / 22 Error

Error code 22 could indicate either a paper jam or a shortage or out of paper in your Lexmark and IBM printer. In Hp printer it means 22 Error/ I/O Config Error/ Par I/O Error/MIO Error.

Solution and possible Causes:

 Lexmark and IBM printer.
Make sure there is sufficient paper loaded into the paper tray and also check if there are any sediments collected along the path of paper. Check to see if the sensor flag for input is broken or not and also ensure the system boards and cable 2 is not defective.

For HP printer

* I/O configuration for the computer or printer is incorrect. Configure it properly.
* Check I/O Cable, it could be the wrong cable or damaged.
* To much data sent to the I/O port - clear data with GO or Continue, data may be lost
* Is the computer on?!
* How about the I/O port - damaged, seated properly, pins not bent?
* 4+/5P/5 The computer and printer aren't talking because of improper signal protocols. Could be a bad cable or loose connection or just a poor quality cable. Reseat the cable and use only high quality IEEE 1284 compliant cables.

* 5Si Are you using a non-HP MIO device?

* Windows XP, click Start and then click Control Panel. Click Printers And Other Hardware and Printers And Faxes. In the Printers And Faxes window, from the File menu, click Server Properties, then click the Drivers tab. This shows the settings in your printer's driver. Compare the settings in this dialog box with the ideal settings in your printer's manual. If you see a discrepancy in these settings, the printer may simply need a new driver and delete old one. You can download printer drivers from the printer manufacturer's Web site.
* Get more help. Installing a new driver won't solve every printer woe, of course, so understanding Windows' built-in Help system will give you an even sharper troubleshooting edge.
